According to the special envoy of Vietnam News Agency, on the afternoon of February 25, right after the official welcome ceremony, at the Royal Palace in Phnom Penh, General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong had a talk with Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni.

King Norodom Sihamoni warmly welcomed General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong to Cambodia on the State level visit, affirming that the visit was a significant and historic event, just in time for both countries to hold a solemn ceremony and activities to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the victory in the war against genocide regime Pol Pot Ieng Sary. This is also the first foreign visit of the General Secretary and President Trong in both positions, which expressed love, special solidarity between Vietnam and Cambodia. The king believed the visit would open a new stage of development of traditional solidarity, friendship and multifaceted cooperation between two countries.

The King expressed his deep gratitude and never forgot comprehensive support that the Socialist Communist Party of Vietnam, the State and the people of Vietnam have dedicated to the Cambodian people in the cause of revolution war, and escape of the genocide disaster, as well as in the period of national reconstruction and development.

He also expressed his joy and admiration for great achievements that the Vietnamese people have obtained in the cause of innovation, considering it a great source of encouragement during the national construction and development. Cambodia side expressed confidence that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Vietnamese continued to earn greater achievements in the renewal process and fulfill the goal of building the wealthy, strong, fair, democratic country and the civilized society.

General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong sincerely thanked the King, Cambodian leaders, the Royal Government and the Cambodian people for their respectful reception which is warm and full of intimacy. He also expressed his pleasure to visit the Kingdom of Cambodia, the beautiful and hospitable Angkor country to meet up with the King who is the successor of the noble career of King Norodom Sihanouk, a close and dear friend of leaders and people of Vietnam.

The General Secretary and the State President are happy to witness great achievements Cambodian people have gained in the past years, especially when Cambodia successfully organized the 6th National Assembly election to establish new National Assembly and Government.

General Secretary and President Trong believed that under the reign of King Norodom Sihamoni and the leadership of the Royal Government of Cambodia, Cambodian people will continue to earn greater achievements during the construction of the city which is peaceful, independent, neutral, democratic and progressive, keep friendly relations with all countries in the world, especially neighboring countries and regions and contributes positively to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and in the world.

Recalling the tradition of solidarity and mutual assistance between the people of the two countries, the General Secretary and the President thanked deeply for the valuable support and assistance that King Norodom Sihamoni, King Norodom Sihanouk, the Royal Family, the Royal Government and the Cambodian people have dedicated to the Vietnamese people in the cause of fighting for national independence and reunification.

Looking back at the development of the relation between two countries in more than half of a century, two leaders rejoiced in the friendship of friendly neighbors which has been especially built by President Ho Chi Minh, King Norodom Sihanouk, leaders and people of two countries. Political relation is constantly strengthened by frequent visits among high-ranking leaders of the two countries. Economic cooperation is promoted more strongly and effectively, bringing practical benefits to people of the two countries; Defense, security and foreign relations are constantly developing into important pillars in bilateral relations. The two countries always coordinate and support each other at the international fora, actively contribute to peace, stability and cooperation in the region and in the world.

Two leaders affirmed that they would do their best to constantly cultivate, promote and convey the solidarity of traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia to the future generations.

On this occasion, General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong expressed sincere thanks to the King, the Government, the National Assembly and the Cambodian Senate for their attention in creating conditions for the Vietnamese community to live, work in Cambodia. He also asked that the King, in his supreme position, will continue to pay attention and direct more favorable conditions, especially in the legal status for Vietnamese people so that they can have a stable life, stay secured to work, produce, contribute more to the development of Cambodia, and strengthen the traditional relations between people of the two countries.

On this occasion, General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong presented the King 100 computers for Cambodia's educational institutions.

The General Secretary and President wish the King good health and in his noble position, to make greater contributions to the prosperity of the Kingdom of Cambodia and nourish the friendship between two countries. General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong respectfully invited the King and Queen to visit Vietnam in the coming time. King Norodom Sihamoni thanked and gladly accepted the invitation.

In the afternoon of the same day, General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong and Vietnamese high-ranking delegation offered flowers at Norodom Sihanouk Monument and gave greetings to Empress Dowager Norodom Monineath Sihanouk.

In the evening of the same day, King Norodom Sihamoni held a banquet at the palace to welcome General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong and Vietnamese high-ranking delegation to the state-level visit to Kingdom of Cambodia.
