Over the past time, being aware of the role of scientific and technical advances in the development of agricultural production, Khoai Chau district has regularly organized training courses to transfer scientific and technical advances to the people on farming techniques and pest and disease prevention. Thereby, many new techniques have been successfully researched and applied to promote fruit tree production such as: the method of using tissue culture in banana cultivation; using nano silver and copper preparations to prevent and control pests on longan and citrus trees in order to increase the rate of flowering and fruiting; the technology of extracting and grafting branches in order to increase the multiplication coefficient and improve varieties on some fruit trees; the measures to cut branches, chemical treatment for longan trees to flower at will ...

Besides, technical advances in farming have been focused on investment by the district such as irrigation and fertilizer application through drip irrigation system; using microbiological fertilizers; techniques for handling off-season flowering, using fruit bags, traps, and biological drugs in the control of flies, limiting burning and tanned fruits; pest management according to IPM method; production according to VietGAP standards, application of OTAS standard system in planting area management... Through monitoring and evaluation, models of application of technical advances have brought practical effects.

Previously, my family completely used pesticides to prevent and control pests on fruit trees. This method costs a lot but not effective, affecting health and the surrounding environment. In recent years, when applying production according to VietGAP process, I have participated in technical training classes, supported labels, packaging ... so product quality is improved, output is better.

Mr. Nguyen Van Lap, Director of Mien Thiet Longan Cooperative (Khoai Chau) said that the cooperative currently has nearly 10 hectares of longan trees, which are applied production according to VietGAP standards, at the same time, using nano silver preparations to prevent and control pests on longan trees, drip irrigation system... Through monitoring, compared with traditional pest prevention and control methods, the application of technical advances to agricultural production brings outstanding advantages, highly effective in the prevention and control of pests and diseases, and the product is trusted by customers. In addition, thanks to strict compliance with regulations from recording the process of crop care through electronic diaries to the use of fertilizers, the profit after the first crop is 20 to 30 % higher compared to plantation by traditional methods.

Through models and application of scientific and technical advances, new crops and intensive farming methods have been received and applied more and more by the people of Khoai Chau district, creating a new breakthrough in production. However, according to the assessment of the local specialized agencies, the transfer of scientific and technical progress still faces such difficulties as: Agricultural production is still small; the quality of agricultural products is not uniform, products in the direction of safety are few, there are not many brands, so the price is squeezed by traders; application of science, technology and high technology to production, preservation and processing to improve product quality and value are still limited; not yet attracting many investment enterprises; there are still many limitations in the restructuring of crops towards the production of goods of high economic value.

In the coming time, the district will continue to promote the application of science and technology in agricultural production, well implement the production of agricultural products according to VietGAP standards; at the same time, encouraging people to accumulate land and lease land for concentrated and large-scale production of goods; promoting mechanization in service of agricultural production and post-harvest preservation and processing of agricultural products; creating favorable conditions to attract enterprises to invest in agriculture, strengthening production linkages; improving the efficiency of trade promotion, finding the outputs for the district's agricultural products; well implementing the project of preserving and developing the production area of ​​specialty longan and lychee in Hung Yen province in the period of 2021-2025...
