In the past 5 years, Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association has mobilized solidarity and members to help each other in life, launch the emulation of production and comply with law. Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association is a social organization established by the Decision No. 901 / QD-UBND dated August 5, 2013 of the Provincial People's Committee. The association is formed on voluntary basis, summoning volunteers and Vietnamese experts to help Laos' residence residing in the province and those who have lived, fought, studied and worked in Laos. In October 2013, the Association organized the first Congress of the term 2013-2018. Now the association has 845 members participating in 10 groups and 1 performance club belonging to the provincial association.

During the term 2013-2018, the Association well organized the study of the guidelines and policies of the Party and State to all officials and members. The association regularly coordinates with relevant levels and branches to promote dissemination and mobilization of officials and members to contribute to local economic, cultural and social development; Visit, encourage members and give gifts to members living in difficult circumstances. Every year, over 95% of the households is recognized as the "cultural family". The proportion of poor household members in the association has decreased from 5% at the beginning of the term to 1% at the end of the term. Along with that, the association well implemented the gratitude work for heroes, martyrs, people with meritorious services to the revolution on the occasion of holidays and Tet. Specifically, the association cooperates with donors to help 2 members build gratitude houses; each household is supported with VND 50 million; presents 125 gifts with a total value of VND 62.5 million to veterans and victims of Agent Orange Dioxin with

From 2014 up to now, Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association has cooperated with Tan Trao University to give gifts of total of VND 24, 6 million to Laotian students who are studying there; donated VND 11 million to support the construction of gratitude houses for Laotian mothers who have saved the lives of Vietnamese soldiers in Xe Kong province (Laos) and supported Laotian people to overcome the consequences of the dam break in Attapeu province (Laos). The association also sent Laotian students and students studying at Tan Trao University to visit Tan Trao Special National Monument (Son Duong), Lao Revolutionary Historical Site in My Bang Commune (Yen Son); thereby, helped students understand the origin of Vietnam - Laos relations, increasing the pride of the special Vietnam - Laos friendship.

In the coming time, the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association will continue to focus on strengthening and building the Association stronger; protect legitimate benefits for members; mobilize members to well perform the tasks of local socio-economic development. At the same time, they also coordinate to promote people's foreign affairs, preserve and promote the tradition of special solidarity of Vietnam - Laos.
