The 12th Vietnam - France cooperation conference

The opening ceremony of the 12th Vietnam - France cooperation conference was held on April 14, in Hanoi city. In the attendance were comrades: Mr. Dinh Tien Dung, Politburo member, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, Head of the Hanoi Delegation of the National Assembly; Mr. Tran Luu Quang, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister; leaders of ministries, departments, agencies, branches, Hanoi city, representatives of 50 localities of Vietnam and 12 localities of France....

On the French side, the conference drew the attendance of Ms. Catherine Deroche, Special Envoy of the President of the French Senate, Chairwoman of the Franco-Vietnamese Friendship Parliamentary Group in the French Senate, Head of the Official French delegation; Mr. Jean-Paul Guihaumé, Ambassador and Delegate for the External Action of Local Authorities, the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France; Mr. Nicolas Warnery, Ambassador of the French Republic to Vietnam; Mr. Jean-Claude Dardelet, Deputy Mayor of Toulouse City, Executive Member of the Association of French Localities. Mr. Nguyen Le Huy, Member of the Standing Board of the Provincial Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, head of the delegation of Hung Yen province and leaders of a number of provincial departments and branches attended the conference.

At the conference

Addressing the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang affirmed the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and France in recent years. This is an important event taking place in the context of the two countries celebrating the 50th founding anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam-France Strategic Partnership in 2023. Over the years, the cooperation between the two countries Vietnam and France is constantly being consolidated, developed and has become a model for the friendly, traditional and cooperative relations between the local levels of the two countries. Up to now, the provinces and cities of Vietnam and France have cooperated with many projects and local cooperation agreements. The cooperation projects focus on the areas that are suitable for local needs in Vietnam and France's strengths, such as culture, language, tourism, heritage conservation and museum, water and environmental sanitation, urban planning, education, training, research, vocational training, health, sustainable development, environment... The conference is an opportunity to summarize and evaluate the results of the contents that have been implemented in cooperation between localities in Vietnamese and French; exchange difficulties and challenges and offer solutions to enhance the promotion and implementation of policies on cooperative relations, linkages and establish mutually beneficial partnerships between localities of the two countries, contributing to a part of promoting the "traditional friendship, comprehensive, long-term and reliable cooperation" relationship between Vietnam and France; strengthen existing relationships, and expand new partnerships.

Provincial delegates attend the conference

The 12th Vietnam-France cooperation conference was themed "Local cooperation: Momentum for post Covid-19 sustainable and comprehensive recovery and development". The conference was held from April 13 to 16. Within the framework of the conference, the delegates of Vietnam and France exchanged and discussed around four sessions of seminars on sustainable cities; environment, water and water treatment; culture, heritage and tourism; smart city and digitization… Besides, many activities were organized to further tighten the solidarity and exchange between localities and partners of the two countries such as: Vietnam - France Economic Forum; Festival "Balade en France"; exhibitions, seminars on culture, heritage…
