Thang Loi Agricultural Cooperative (Tam Da) packed litchi fruit for sale at supermarkets

Mr. Hien said:  “In the past, my family cultivated litchi mainly according to experience.  In 2017, when participating in Thang Loi agricultural cooperative, I started to produce litchi according to VietGap process. I also have been trained in techniques for taking care of clean litchi.  This year, although the lost season of litchi but due to the application of VietGap production process, my family's litchi garden still yielded about 5 tons, it is expected that with the current price I will get over VND 100 million ”.

Mr. Doan Thanh Luan, Deputy Chairman of Tam Da People's Committee said:  There are 70ha specializing in VietGap litchi farming in this commune.  In the past years, thanks to quality assurance, VietGap litchi fruit has always been sold in the garden at a higher price of 3,000-4,000 VND / kg than the average selling price in the market. 
Minh Tien commune currently has 170 hectares of early matured hybrid litchi. It is the first year 2019 when 25ha of litchi produce VietGap with 17 members of the agricultural cooperative in Minh Tien commune.  In the first year of litchi production according to VietGap process, litchi growers in Minh Tien commune were very excited because the quality and price were higher than last year.  Ms. Dong Thi Thu Huong, Chairwoman and Executive Director of Agricultural Cooperative in Minh Tien commune said:  “Productivity is about 20% higher in our VietGap gardens. The quality of litchi fruit is better than other growing in experience process.  Litchi fruit has no residue of pathogenic fungi, the fruit is more bright and beautiful, more fragrant and sweet. There is not wormy in the tip of litchi fruit (often in the seasons of many years ago, that was much reducing the quality and value of fruit production). Besides, VietGap litchi selling price is 15-25% higher than similar products (not VietGap) in the market ”. 

Phu Cu district has about 750ha of litchi, in which there are over 100ha of production area under VietGap process, gathered in Tam Da, Minh Tien and Phan Sao Nam communes ... 

In the future, in order to improve the quality of the brand "Phu Cu early matured hybrid litchi", the gardeners will expand the area of ​​litchi production according to VietGap process in which top criteria are quality and ensuring hygiene and food safety.
