At the meeting, Chairman of the People’s Committee Nguyen Van Phong reported the overview of socio-economic development in 2017 and plan of socio-economic development in 2018. After 20 years known as an agriculture province, Hung Yen’s socio-economic situation has witnessed huge improvement. Especially, 2017 was the first year Hung Yen conducted the budget self-sustaining with the total receipts budget of over VND 12,000 billion, up by 13% compared to the plan and 150 times as much as the figure of 1997. In 2017, the province attracts 255 new investment projects, which increases by 61 projects compared to 2016 and raises the total number of projects in the province to 1,693. Now 60% of communes are acknowledged to reach new rural standards. My Hao district is striving to satisfy new rural standards and applying for town recognition.

Speaking at the meeting, a number of Vietnamese overseas expressed happiness to the socio-economic achievements of Hung Yen province, as well as wish that the province would pay attention to and give facilities to Vietnamese overseas to make investment and carry out hometown-oriented activities.

Speaking at the meeting, Provincial party Secretary Do Tien Sy appreciated the contributions and favor of overseas Hung Yen people to the homeland in the past time.  He underlined that the Party, authority and residents consider overseas Hung Yen people to be an inseparable part of Hung Yen community and one of the factors forming the general power of the national unity. In the coming time, levels, divisions, and localities should continue to review, make adjustment and amendment to the policies in order to give favorable conditions to Vietnamese overseas, including overseas Hung Yen people to take part in the socio-economic development of the province; boost up the investment promotion activities and trade, timely address difficulties during the operation process. The province would like to urgently call on enterprise community, investors and overseas Hung Yen people to give suggestions and summon investment sources to family and homeland; introduce and disseminate images, potentials and advantages of Hung Yen to Vietnamese overseas community and foreign friends in order to contribute to Hung Yen’s development.
