This year, thanks to favorable weather, a lot of litchi growing areas in Phu Cu district are frtuiful and expected to yield nearly 90 tons, which is higher than the previous year....
These days, farmers in the disrict are busy harvesting litchi to sell to traders from provinces and cities over the nation. Hung Yen digital newspaper reports some images of the litchi harvesting season in Phu Cu district.

Phu Cu district is the “capital’ of litchi in Hung Yen province with the total area of 836 hectares and two major litchi varieties, namly U trung litchi and early-ripening litchi.

The early-ripening litchi and U trung litchi are ripe this time. Roads across communes and villages in the district are full of farmers picking litchi, taking them to the center and selling them to traders.

The early-ripening litchi is concentrated in Tam Da commune, Tien Tien commune, in which, the model of Thang Loi agriculture cooperative with the area of 70 hectares is processed under Vietgap standard. This season, Thang Loi agriculture cooperative is expected to harvest 1000 tons.

Customers can use an app on smartphones to scan QR code to trace the origin of litchi products.
Especially, Phu Cu is famous for U trung litchi with the characteristics of bright red skin when ripening, thick pulp, strong sweetness, aromatic flavor and egg-size fruit; each kilo has 20 to 22 fruit.

The current selling price is VND 60,000 per kilo. This season, U trung litchi is generating huge profit to households in Phan Sao Nam.

U trung litchi garden of Mr. Le Van Tien in Ba Dong village, Phan Sao Nam commune with 16 trees harvested this season.

Traders from provinces and cities over the country buy litchi in big gardens in the dictrict.

The selling price of early-ripening litchi is from VND 20,000 to VND 24,000 per kilo; a number of households in the district can earn tens of million VND from the litchi.

People used to taste litchi in the early season in Phu Cu district all have the same comment: bif fruit, thin peel, thich pulp, strong sweetness and aromatic flavor.

This is why U trung litchi of Hung Yen province has much higher price than that of the main-season litchi in other areas.
