Towards safe lychee production, at the beginning of this year, the department of agriculture and rural development of the district organized the workshops of cultivation techniques, lychee growing techniques according to Vietgap process; inspected and guided famers on look-after, prevention of diseases under Vietgap process attached with requirements on conditions of safe products; and recommend the list of pesticides.
In this period, the lychee trees are in the stage of blossoming and producing young fruit, which is decisive in the output and fruit quality. The district directs the profesional official to watch, examines and observes the gardens regularly to deliver the solutions to remove diseases because in this phase, trees are normally attacked by pests such as Bugs, caterpillars, fruit stem borers, harmful eriophyes. In addition, advanced techniques in cultivation are applied such as the dripping irrigation system, using microbiological fertilizers; using biological drugs in preventing harmful flies; controlling diseases under IPM method, producing under Vietgap standards; applying OTAS standards in growing area management.
Tam Da commune now has 85 hectares of Vietgap concentrated lychee growing, focusing mostly in Tam Da village. In models of Vietgap lychee growing, garden owners record the cultivation diary. Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong's household who is one of the first households applying the growing process of organic lychee since 2018 said that during the implementation of this model, she joined the workshops on nursing, recognizing, preventing pesticides on lychee trees, trimming branches, notching the barks of trees to prevent sprouting. Experiences show that the lychee trees tended according to Vietgap standards produce spacious crowns, safe from diseases, the blossoming and fruiting rate are higher. The lychee quality of her family in recent seasons was better with brighter texture, sweeter and without borers
Mr. Doan Thanh Luan, chairman of Tam Da people's committee said that in the coming time, in order to ramp up the quality of "Phu Cu early-ripening lychee", the commune continued to encourage people to expand the production areas according to Vietgap standards, and attached the most importance to safe hygiene and safety.
Ms. Dong Thi Thu Huong, Chairman of the board cum chief operation officer of Minh Tien collective said that until now, the collective had 41 hectares of lychee production under Vietgap process. In order to accomplish the goals of lychee quality improvement, and safety in production and consumption stage, the collective enhanced propaganda and encouragement on produce lychee under Vietgap process. At the same time, they cooperated to open workshops to transfer science and techniques of tending, preventing pests on lychee trees; developing advertising of trademarks and trade promotion.
According to the evaluation of the district department of agricultural and rural development, this lychee season would deliver 10 thousand tones. Thanks to active application oftechniques in production, expansion of production models of safe and organic lychee production, the lychee quality of the locality gets better. The district also boosts the propaganda, and reminds growers to pay attention to food hygiene and safety and to actively connect the consumption markets and lychee export markets.
In the coming time, the district focuses on major tasks: Organizing the conference of Vietgap early-ripening lychee consumption with the participation of many companies, enterprises and supermarkets. Along with that, before the lychee harvest season, leaders of the district People's Committee would organize a meeting with traders purchasing lychees in the locality in order to connect the market to farmers, limit the situation of competition in buying, selling, and forcing prices; strictly manage issues of product labels and packaging in order to build and enhance product brands. At the same time, the district would request functional departments to guide lychee growers to comply with the production process; continue to expand the application of software, stamps to trace the origin of agricultural products to protect the brand, affirm the quality and reputation of the product...
