Early-ripening litchi of Phu Cu district are consumed by traders from provinces over the country

This year, the early-ripening litchi areas of Phu Cu district yield bumper crops with high prices. After years of dominating the domestic market by superior quality; this year, litchi of Phu Cu district is exported abroad for the first time.

Now litchi growing area in Phu Cu district is coming to the peak harvesting season. Initially, there are over 10 tons of early-ripening litchi of Phu Cu district exported to Eastern Europe and China with the selling price of VND 20,000 per kilo. U trung litchi variety has the selling price of over VND 60,000 per kilo.

All litchi growing areas in Phu Cu district are operated under Vietgap process and applied IPM method (Integrated Pest Management); the products are labeled the origin traceability stamps. Litchi growing cooperatives have applied VIETGAP process and are granted OTAS code to export to Japan and Eastern Europe.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Chuyen, Deputy Chairman of the People’s Committee of Phu Cu district said: “There are over 2,000 hectares of early-ripening litchi, concentrated in Tam Da commune, Minh Tien commune, Tien Tien commune, Phan Sao Nam commune, Tong Tran commune, in which over 800 hectares can be harvested”

Thanks to the promotion and connection of demand and supply to create the distribution network, Phu Cu litchi is consumed widely in the domestic market and has appeared in the system of T-mart supermarket and other retail system.

Mr. Mai Van Quyet, Director of Quyet Tien Agricultural Cooperative (Phan Sao Nam commune), said that Phu Cu early-ripening lychee are usually harvested one month before the main season, so the selling price was stable over the years at 20,000 VND per kilo, 3 times higher than other litchi growing areas.

The early-ripening litchi of Phu Cu district is granted the certificate in 2016.This variety has the superior characteristics such as big fruit, nice appearance and bright skin color, delicate sweetness…
