On May 22, Phu Cu District (Hung Yen Province) held a conference to promote the consumption of local lychee varieties. The event saw the participation of representatives from the Department of Industry and Trade, Department of Agriculture and Environment, Department of Science and Technology, along with more than 60 companies, enterprises, and agricultural traders from both within and outside the province....

Phu Cu District currently has over 1,200 hectares of lychee cultivation, including 850 hectares of early-ripening hybrid lychees and 400 hectares of Hung Yen egg lychees. The early-ripening hybrid lychees are mainly grown in the communes of Tam Da, Minh Tien, and Tien Tien. Thanks to favorable weather conditions and improved farming techniques during the flowering and fruit-setting stages, the district expects a harvest of approximately 15,000 tons of this variety.

Delegates also toured an early-ripening lychee orchard in Tam Da Commune.

The early-ripening hybrid lychees from Phu Cu ripen earlier than most other lychee varieties on the market, with the harvest season expected to begin on May 30. When ripe, the lychees have a bright red skin, fragrant aroma, and a pleasant, mildly sweet flavor. Each kilogram contains about 20 to 25 fruits on average. This lychee variety has been granted trademark registration by the Intellectual Property Office under the Ministry of Science and Technology, and has been rated as a 4-star product under the province’s OCOP (One Commune, One Product) program.

The Hung Yen egg lychee is cultivated in the communes of Phan Sao Nam, Quang Hung, Doan Dao, and Minh Tan. This variety is known for its large size, early ripening, thin red skin, thick pulp, and rich sweetness. Notably, Hung Yen egg lychees can maintain their color and flavor for 3 to 4 days after harvest when stored at room temperature. The district expects a total output of around 350 tons for this variety.
