Many advantages for development

The OCOP program has created a spread effect, attracting the participation and promotion of economic entities in upgrading and perfecting products according to the market demand and restructuring the economy in the direction of linkage. The products have clearly and positively changed in quality, packaging, label, product traceability.

There are currently 59 craft villages operating in the field of handicrafts, 350 cooperatives operating in the field of agriculture; 729 farms and a number of large-scale concentrated commodity agricultural production areas, which have developed quite comprehensively in the direction of increasing productivity and improving quality such as: fruit production areas, high-quality rice production areas, safe vegetable production areas, vegetables for processing. These are advantages for organizations and individuals producing traditional products and services to have the advantages in participating in the OCOP Program, creating valuable and competitive products in the market.

Over the past time, all levels, branches and localities have focused on supporting organizations and individuals producing products participating in the OCOP Program with such specific solutions as: making orientation for consulting on upgrading and perfecting products in the direction of quality standardization; managing and monitoring quality standards; supporting training, technical guidance, branding, trade promotion, product advertisement... On that basis, a lot of businesses, production facilities, cooperatives have focused on investing in improving product quality to meet the standards of quality, design, food safety and environmental regulations. By the end of 2021, the province has 140 OCOP products, of which 116 products and product groups of 3 stars, 24 products of 4 stars.

In 2021, Kim Dong district has 17 products recognized as OCOP products, of which 13 products are newly recognized, 4 products are upgraded from 3 stars to 4 stars. Up to now, in the district, there are 19 products recognized as OCOP products, of which 5 products are ranked at 4-star, the rest are 3-star products. Participating in the OCOP program is not only an opportunity to promote local products and improve people's income, but also contributes to the socio-economic development of the district.

Keep the brand and improve the quality

In fact, many typical products previously produced by traditional methods when participating in the OCOP Program have been standardized and produced according to quality standards and regulations. After the products are recognized, they are allowed to use the OCOP trademark and the rank of stars that are printed and affixed on the product packaging, which raises the bar and creates trust among consumers, and eligible to enter supermarkets and modern distribution systems. At the same time, OCOP will be the basis and necessary conditions for gradually expanding domestic brands and developing into international markets.

In 2021, the business household Luong Duc Toan, Hiep Cuong commune (Kim Dong) has 4 products recognized with 4 stars, including black bean sprout tea, red bean sprout tea, cereal germ tea, and soybean sprout powder. Mr. Luong Duc Toan said: The OCOP program has brought positive values, contributing to the enhancement of product brands. In order to maintain the market, in the coming time, I will continue to invest in technology and machinery to improve the quality and design to affirm the brand for the product.

Kim Dong district strives by 2022 to have 3-5 products that are evaluated and ranked OCOP products. In order to improve the quality of OCOP products in association with brand building, create favorable conditions for product consumption and investment attraction, towards the export market, in the coming time, the district will focus on the solutions to continue to inform and propagate the contents of the OCOP program, the set of criteria for evaluating and classifying OCOP products; train for staff and production facilities in detail the set of criteria for evaluating and classifying OCOP products; prepare documents to participate in the OCOP program. In the performance of the OCOP cycle for products participating in the OCOP program, depending on the completion level of the products, the district has solutions to consult, support to improve and upgrade products in accordance with the OCOP cycle, the set of criteria for evaluation and classification of OCOP products and the conditions of production facilities. For OCOP products, it is recommended to upgrade the star rating, continue to strengthen and improve product quality, traceability, chain linkage, brand development, and trade promotion.

According to the plan, in 2022, the whole province strives to have 30-40 more products and groups of products that are evaluated and rated by OCOP products to reach the standard of 3 stars or higher. To achieve the above goal, the province requires departments, branches and localities to actively direct, guide and support subjects to well carry out the program's contents and activities; maximize the initiative and creativity in building OCOP products; focus on perfecting and upgrading products with the strengths of each locality and developing newly registered products. To focus on promoting and marketing OCOP products in many forms such as: Carrying out trade promotion for products of 3 star or higher standard; organizing fairs and exhibitions of OCOP products, striving to build 5 more points to introduce and sell OCOP products… Besides, the province continues to direct branches and localities to develop and implement scientific and technological policies for OCOP products in the direction of research and application of science and technology, protection of intellectual property rights, digital transformation in the construction and effective management of trademarks of OCOP products through building product management software, evaluating and classifying products. To continue to support subjects to promote products on e-commerce sites inside and outside the province.
