The process of converting crop structure has formed large specialized commodity farming areas, forming local markets such as ornamental plants, trees, and fruit trees in Phung Cong, Me So, Lien Nghia communes (Van Giang); Dong Tao, Binh Minh, Da Trach, Ham Tu (Khái Chau)... In addition, in localities such as Khoai Chau district, Kim Dong district... banana growing areas with an area of ​​more than 1 thousand hectares have been planned, generating income. average 350-400 million VND/hectare.

Under favorable conditions of green food sources such as grass, crop products such as corn, potatoes, soybeans... along with the advantage of grazing land, livestock farming in the grassland area develops strongly, accounting for a large proportion of the population. livestock structure of the whole province. Although the area of ​​agricultural land in the coastal areas only accounts for 7.7% of the province's agricultural land, the herd of buffaloes and cows accounts for nearly 30%, the herd of pigs accounts for nearly 15%, and the herd of poultry accounts for nearly 10% of the total herd of cattle and poultry. in the province.

With the goal of comprehensive socio-economic development of the beach area, on March 22, 2021, the Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 843/QD-UBND approving the project to develop and improve economic efficiency of the beach area. Building a modern irrigation system based on the application of scientific and technological advances; In the period 2021 - 2030, strive to invest in building 18 irrigation and drainage pumping stations; upgrading 18.2km of dikes; built 27 new bridges and culverts; Upgrade and solidify more than 119.7km of infield canals. Invest in new construction of 28 transformer stations, install 71km of low voltage lines to serve production, preservation and processing of products.

To achieve the goals of agricultural development in coastal areas, in recent times, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has increased coordination and orientation for localities to build concentrated agricultural production areas and develop OCOP products. In the field of horticulture, expand the area of ​​​​growing key specialty fruit trees; renovate and replace fruit trees with low economic value. In particular, maintain and gradually narrow the existing rice cultivation area; develop and expand corn growing areas in association with the development of livestock and poultry farming. Banana trees continue to increase production area according to VietGAP standards; Banana growing area by 2025 will reach 1,428 hectares. By 2025, the area of ​​longan trees will reach 691 hectares. Citrus trees (oranges, tangerines, grapefruits), applying intensive farming techniques and post-harvest preservation technology to increase value; Focus on high-tech development in localities such as Van Giang, Khoai Chau, Phu Cu, Kim Dong and Hung Yen city; By 2025, the area will reach 820 hectares. Food crops (vegetables, tubers, fruits) will expand in area to 222 hectares by 2025. For growing flowers and ornamental plants, by 2025, flower output supplied to the local market will account for 30%; The remaining 70% of products are supplied to the Hanoi market, other regions and are headed for export. Medicinal plants, focusing on developing turmeric, Panax notoginseng, Dia lon... in Khoai Chau and Kim Dong districts; strive to reach 150 hectares by 2025.

Projects to grow medicinal herbs with a scale of 20 hectares/project in Khoai Chau and Kim Dong districts; concentrated seedling production with an area of ​​50 hectares in Tan Chau commune (Khái Chau). The project builds and encourages the development of production and consumption chain models of agricultural products (vegetables, fruits, meat, fish) to ensure food safety. Building concentrated livestock areas far from residential areas with a scale of 10 hectares or more; Build a concentrated aquaculture area and cage fish farming.
