Tourists visit Thai Lac pagoda (Lac Hong, Van Lam)

Nom pagoda is the attraction of many tourists to pray for peace at the beginning of the year. The ancient Nom pagoda underwent ups and downs of time and multiple restoration; however, it still keeps the ancient architecture patterns. Each works were designed balanced, appropriate and well fit the nature, trees and the water pond. There are over 120 Buddha statues made of wood and clay in various sizes. Each statue is vividly depicted from costumes to expressive nuances such as smiling, angry, contemplative... Coming to Nom pagoda, many tourists not only offer incense to the temple, express their respect. Wishing good things for your family and loved ones, but also to admire and feel the beauty of the temple.

Nguyen Quy Hien (Hanoi city) said: "On the occasion of the new year, my family often takes time to make offerings to Nom pagoda and admire the pagoda scenes. We are also interested in the beauty and peace of Nom village. It contains all the cultural values of a typical Vietnamese village namely the banyan tree, the well, the village paths tiled with red bricks and moss-covered communal house's roofs.

The most impressive part is Nom bridge crossing Nguyet Duc river lying in the middle of Nom ancient relic cluster. This is made of stone, 2 meter long, assembled by large blue stone slates carved sophisticatedly. Components of this bridge are not connected by the linking materials but stacked on each other. However, undergoing numerous natural impacts, the bridge is still solid. Thus, Nom bridge is considered an unprecedented intact stone bridge in any ancient villages in the Red river delta.

Departing for Thai Lac- the special national relic site in Lac Hong commune, tourists can find peace and serenity. Visitors can admire the brilliant wood sculpture skills rich in Tran dynasty's styles. The pagoda also keeps the valuable artifacts such as three stela, the bronze bell, ancient bricks.

On the journey exploring the historic and cultural relic sites of Van Lam district, let's visit Huong Lang pagoda which was built since the 11st century and still keeps numerous artifacts of Ly dynasty namely the stone lion statue and the systems of stone stairs. Visiting Ghenh temple in Ngoc Quynh village, tourists learn about Empress Mother Y Lan who was excellent in both character and study and dedicated to the country.

Van Lam district has 167 relic sites and 89 festivals. The number of historic and cultural sites and traditional craft villages are the source to create the tourism potential. In 2022, the district received more than 9,700 tourists.

In order to promote the tourism potentials, the district should reinforce the propaganda and tourism promotion; pay attention to spiritual tourism development and craft village tourism. The people's committee of the district should direct the management board of relic sites to boost the solutions to protect the artifacts and environment, create the typical tourism products which are environment-friendly. The cultural relic sites are restored and revamped but still ensure the original features. Festivals are organized solemnly and attractively.
