During the visit, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh had talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ri Yong Ho of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the Deputy Chairman of the Central Party Committee, Chairman of the Labor Party Ri Su Yong and visited the Vietnamese Embassy in DPRK.
At a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ri Yong Ho, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh expressed his pleasure to visit Korea, affirmed that Vietnam would make efforts to cooperate with DPRK to promote exchanges and cooperation in areas in line with the potentials and benefits of each country and international regulations for regional and global peace and development. Vietnam is willing to share with DPRK the experience of national construction, socio-economic development and international integration on the basis of DPRK’s proposals.
Regarding issues related to Korean Peninsula, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh affirmed that Vietnam's consistent position is to support dialogue to maintain peace, security and stability on Korean Peninsula and willing to actively contribute to this process.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs Ri Yong Ho expressed his pleasure to meet the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh in Pyongyang; emphasized the desire to promote relations between two countries for further development, especially in 2020 on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the two countries establishing diplomatic relations; agreed to exchange measures to strengthen bilateral relations in accordance with the new situation; thanked Vietnam's position and efforts in promotion of dialogue process for peace, security, cooperation and development on Korean Peninsula.
Two sides informed each other about the socio-economic development situation of each country; agreed to continue to coordinate at international and regional forums such as the United Nations, Non-Aligned Movement Conference, ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF), international conferences and forums among political parties; strengthened exchanges on issues of mutual concern such as maintaining peace and stability in the region.
Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh congratulated the achievements of the DPRK’s people in the cause of national construction and development; sincerely invited the Vice Chairman Ri Su Yong to visit Vietnam to strengthen exchanges and cooperation between two Parties.
Deputy President and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ri Su Yong affirmed the consistent position of the Party and the Government of DPRK in strengthening the traditional friendship between the two countries built by President Kim Nhat Thanh and President Ho Chi Minh who considered it a precious heritage that needs to be preserved and promoted. He appreciated and expressed the belief that this visit to the People's Democratic Republic of Korea by Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh would make an important contribution to further strengthening the traditional friendship between two countries and cooperation between two Parties.
Mr. Ri Su Yong highly appreciated important achievements that the Vietnamese people have earned in the cause of construction, national development and international status; expressed his desire to visit Vietnam in order to strengthen exchanges and cooperation between two parties in the future
