Delegates visit Phu Cu early-ripening hybrid litchi growing areas in Tam Da commune

Phu Cu district has over 1,200 hectares growing litchi, in which there are 850 hectares of the early-ripening litchi and 300 hectares of Hung Yen egg-shaped litchi. Phu Cu early-ripening hybrid litchi are grown mostly in communes, namely Tam Da, Minh Tien and Tien Tien. This year, given that the weather is favorable and farmers have improved the tending techniques during the blossoming and fruiting period, the output has increased, estimated from 13,500 tons to 14,000 tons (the output in 2023 reached over 12,500 tons).

Phu Cu early-ripening hybrid litchi can be harvested earlier than other variety on the market; the peak ripening season is projected as of May 31. This type of litchi changes to bright red with tasty flavor and delicate sweetness. Each kilo makes up of 20 to 25 fruits. This variety has been granted the certificate of the trademark registration by the Intellectual Property Office (under the Ministry of Science and Technology) and ranked the four-star OCOP product.

At the conference, companies, purchasing hubs of agro-products introduced the production process and the harvesting process in order to improve the quality and appearance of Phu Cu early-ripening hybrid litchi, especially the import products, and conditions to deliver the fresh litchi into supermarket systems.

At the conference, some supermarkets, domestic enterprises and collectives in the district signed the minutes of cooperation on consumption of Phu Cu early-ripening hybrid litchi.
