07 first prizes, 15 second prizes, 18 third prizes and 27 consolidation prizes have been honored to groups and individuals who have won the National External Information Service Awards 2017...

On June 14 in Hanoi, the central propaganda and training commission, the central steering committee for external information work cooperated with Nhan Dan newspaper to organize the award ceremony of the National External Information Service Awards 2017 (newspapers and books) in order to acknowledge and honor outstanding authors and journalists of newspapers and books in the external information.

The ceremony saw the attendance of Mr. Vo Van Thuong, the member of Political Bureau, Secretary of the communist party of Vietnam, Chairman of the central propaganda and training commission, chairman of the Central steering committee for external information work; Mr. Pham Binh Minh, Member of Political Bureau, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The organizing board received 970 entries, up 9% compared to 2016. There are 931 valid entries including categories of print newspapers, electronic newspapers, radio broadcasting, television broadcasting, press photography, scenery photography and books in 15 languages such as Vietnamese, English, French, Russian, Chinese, Spanish, Bulgarian, Japanese, Korean, Indonesian.

The general evaluation showed that entries this year have good professional quality; catch up with the external information and news; create the positive effects in dissemination of the national image, culture, history and people worldwide; mention comprehensively the situation of politics, economics, society and culture in the country, life of the Vietnamese community in the foreign countries and important events in 2017; communicate the policies and guidelines of the Party and State's laws and perspectives and standpoints of Vietnam about the international and regional issues; fight against the incorrect information and distorted argument about Vietnam.

A number of entries are posted on prestigious foreign newspapers and magazines, boosting up the dissemination to foreigners. The participants are varied including journalists and coordinators of the domestic and foreign press, researchers, specialists, photographers, publishing houses, Vietnamese representative offices in the foreign countries, and foreign representative offices in Vietnam.

In addition to news agencies and major newspapers of the external work, prizes saw the participation of 115 local newspapers, and publishing houses. A number of Vietnamese overseas and foreign friends actively participated in. Specially, there were 22 authors from such countries as Russia, China, Spain, Cuba, Bulgaria, Slovakia, India, France, and German...

After 2 rounds of preliminary marking and final evaluation, with the spirit of responsibility and fairness, the organizing board chose 67 entries to honor the first prizes, second prizes, the third prizes and the consolidation prizes. In particular, there were 7 first prizes, 15 second prizes, 18 third prizes, 27 consolidation prizes in different categories of print newspapers, electronic newspapers in Vietnamese and foreign languages, radio broadcasting, television broadcasting, and books

Speaking in the award ceremony, Mr. Pham Binh Minh, Member of Political Bureau, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the award strengthened the connection and cooperation among newspapers of external work, between external information and domestic information, among departments and local regions and encouraged journalists, editors, specialists, researchers of news agencies and publishing houses. The success of the National External Information Service Awards 2017 showed the increasing prestige of this award and affirmed the important role of external work in the construction and development mission of the country.

Amid the success of the external work 2017 and APEC year 2017, the external information work, including the successful organization of the National External Information Service Awards 2017 has paid an important contribution to building the Vietnam image which is hospitable, proper, thriving, and proactive in international integration and becoming a responsible and active member of the international and regional community. The external information work also creates trust, consensus and approval of people inside and outside the country, summons the power as well as affirms the prestige and stand of Vietnam in the world.
