Now the commune has 4 villages including: Vang village, Ha village, Nguyen village, and Thuong village. According to the elderly in the commune, Cuu Cao has the terrain as a bird: Two spreading wings are fields of Vang village and Nguyen village; its body is Ha village. There used to be 4 hills in the East, the West, the South and the North which embodies four shields. Villagers believe that four shields are protected and blessed by Legends.

Cuu Cao commune is an ancient village where the antiques are still intact, including: the communal house, pagodas and temples. Dinh Chung, which is also called Cuu Cao communal house, located in Nguyen village, is the communal house of all villages in the commune. This communal house was built in Hau Le dynasty on a high and airy land. It worships Hoang Nuong princess and 4 kings.

Cuu Cao commune has various festivals at the historical sites annually; however, the most bustling one is on Feb. 8 on the Lunar calendar. On these days, people set aside farming work and production in order to take part in festive activities such as: worshiping, procession, Chinese chess playing, and cockfighting. "Du tien" has become a cultural beauty of the local people. People play "du tien" until Jan.10 on the Lunar calendar. It is not only the traditional entertaining game but it also connects people and carries a wish of favorable weather, lush trees, bumper crops and happy life.

Gau village has various agriculture products. Through skillful hands, villagers make typical "banh day". Gau villagers pass on the old saying "Great feast is not as good as "banh day" of Gau village. Nearly 20 households in Cuu Cao village still maintain and develop this traditional work. Mr. Le Quang Dien said that: "Passing down this profession not only raises household income but also preserves traditional beauty of the country. "Banh day" has now become a trademark of this area and is ordered on the occasion of holidays, the new year and important events of families. Our family makes thousands of "banh day" every year.

Cuu Cao commune also pays attention to educational career of students in the commune. 7 study promotion units of the commune always take care of and encourage students' studious spirit; of which Bui Ngo family in Ha village is the most typical one. The family mobilizes their children and grandchildren to contribute money to maintain the study promotion fund; encourages students of the family to study hard, and promptly helps disadvantaged children to continue going to school.Mr. Bui Ngo Thanh from Ha village said that On the ancestor's death anniversary, we organize incense offerings to commemorate ancestors, report on the academic achievements of children and grandchildren in the family; reward and encourage children with high academic achievement; review the tradition of revolutionary and the academic record of the family so that the younger generations are aware of their own responsibilities and continue to promote the tradition.
