Farmers in Tam Da commune (Phu Cu) harvest oranges

These days, Ngu Phuc Agricultural Cooperative, Tam Da Commune (Phu Cu) is busy harvesting oranges and selling them to the market. The cooperative's oranges are mainly distributed to stores and retail points in the province and other localities such as Hanoi, Hai Duong, Hai Phong... Mr. Tran Van Binh, Director of Ngu Phuc Agricultural Cooperative said: With an area of 50ha, this year, the cooperative is estimated to produce more than 600 tons of oranges. Thanks to production in the direction of safety, the cooperative's oranges give outstanding quality, affirming the brand. Large oranges, golden appearance, fragrant, sweet, are highly appreciated by consumers. Currently, the price of oranges in the garden is sold for 25-30 thousand VND/kg. In order to support people to consume oranges smoothly, the cooperative has actively contacted and coordinated with functional sectors to carry out many solutions synchronously, such as: Attending conferences to promote consumption of agricultural products held by the province; increasing product consumption through traders at wholesale markets inside and outside the province; coordinating with the Department of Industry and Trade to bring products into the system of supermarkets and safe stores; connecting with e-commerce platforms to bring oranges to consumers the fastest with three criteria: Quality, food safety and disease prevention and control...

To ensure favorable consumption of orange products, the cooperative has contacted its partners to put the products on sale at a number of safe chain stores inside and outside the province. Currently, most of the cooperative's orange orchards have been ordered by customers inside and outside the province. Some growers also retail products through social networking sites such as Facebook, Zalo. When customers order online, products will be harvested, packed and then shipped to required address…

Promoting the advantages of soil conditions, climate, and wide application of technical advances in farming, etc., the province has built concentrated orange growing areas, creating orange orchards laden with fruit and attractive color, fragrant, sweet taste. The province now has over 4.2 thousand hectares of citrus fruit trees, of which over 2,000 hectares are planted with oranges, with over 500 hectares of oranges produced under VietGAP process. Gardeners, cooperative groups, cooperatives and businesses in orange growing areas of the province such as Hung Yen city, districts: Kim Dong, Khoai Chau, Van Giang... are in the season of harvesting and consuming oranges. This year, the province's orange output is estimated at 35,000 tons. Actual surveys in localities have shown that this year, Hung Yen oranges have been sold smoothly and at a higher price compared to the previous year.

In order to support producers to improve productivity and product quality, find consumption markets, over the past time, the province has promoted consumption promotion activities, supported brand building, collective marks, granted planting area codes for fruit trees in general, including orange trees to make information transparent to consumers. In addition, functional sectors also support cooperatives and gardeners to participate in many agricultural product trade promotion events organized by ministries, branches of central and province, and coordinate to participate in fair activities, exhibition of agricultural products in provinces and cities throughout the country. Currently, the Department of Industry and Trade is looking for and connecting more big clues to expand orange distribution channels for growers as well as promote the Hung Yen orange brand. The whole province strives for about 50% of orange production to be consumed in the internal market, the rest is for the external market.

Comrade Tran Thi Hong Hanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said that in order to ensure a successful 2022 orange crop and develop effective and sustainable orange production, the department is actively implementing solutions to promote product consumption for farmers. According to the plan, many activities to boost orange consumption will be organized such as: Hung Yen Orange Fair in Ecopark urban area (Van Giang). Along with that, the department promotes the consumption of agricultural products through the e-commerce platform; maintained sales channels through a chain of safe stores and supermarkets; created supply - demand connection between businesses and cooperatives and gardeners. It is expected that the Hung Yen Orange Fair in 2022 will take place on December 17. In order to put oranges into reputable distribution systems, growers must strictly follow the production process under the guidance of technical staff; pay attention to the quality of the goods to ensure the required commitment. Besides traditional sales channels, establishments need to actively approach online and e-commerce channels.
