In 2017, amid a wide range of difficulties and challenges, thanks to the attempts of levels, agencies, economic units and people as well as the strong contribution of overseas Hung Yen people, the socio-economic situation of the province has witnessed extensive results. The economic growth exceeds the plan’s criteria and increases by 8.45%; GDO reached VND 49.3 million; state budget receipts reached VND 12,015 billion, up by 12.82% compared to the predicted plan and up by 21.3% compared to 2016. The economic structure swifts to industrialization, modernization; industry and construction account for 51.01%; trade and service account for 38.06% and agriculture and fishery account for 10.93%. The new style rural area building marks positive results. My Hao district has been satisfied the new style rural area criteria and proposing for town recognition. In 2017, there were additional 27 communes recognize as the new style rural area, raising the proportion of new style rural communes to 60%. The industrial production value increases by 9.62% compared to 2016. Trade and service production value up 8.72%. Retail sale increases by 12.49%; export accounts for VND 3,680 million, up by 15.05%. The total capital mobilized for investment of social development is VND 31.120 billion, raised by 10.24%, in which the state investment capital accounts for 14.6%, the investment capital of private sector contributes 48.5%, the capital of direct investment accounts for 36.9%, creating jobs for 2,240,000 laborers. The ratio of trained labors is 58%; the percentage of cultural villages and streets accounts for 87%; cultural families reach 90%.

Administrative reform and local authority building get positive results. The government at all levels in the province is revised in the way of simplification, enhancement of efficiency and effectiveness in directing and administering the implementation of the Party's resolutions and implementing policies and laws. Information technology infrastructure in state departments has been synchronously implemented, 100% state agencies at all levels use management software which is connected with the Government Office. . The province's mutual information system is invested and developed, creating the foundation for the electronic administration of Hung Yen province.

Provincial Party Committee and the People's Committee of Hung Yen province have directed the departments and branches based on the content of the Resolution and the actual situation of the province to develop action programs to implement the Resolution No. 19 / NQ-CP and No. 35 / NQ-CP of the Government in order to make positive changes in the business investment environment in the province. The time for handling administrative procedures at agencies has been reduced compared with the regulations, specifically: reduce 10-30% of the time for handling administrative procedures, in which there are some procedures lowered the settlement time by 50-60%, administrative procedures for registration of ownership of property are implemented not more than 20 days. The province implemented synchronous solutions to attract investment, support the development of enterprises, especially promoting administrative reform, building a favorable investment environment. In 2017, the investment attraction and development of enterprises have achieved the highest results ever. In details, the province received 255 new projects (increase by 61 projects compared to 2016), of which there are 213 domestic projects ( increase by 61 projects compared to 2016) with the registered capital of VND 15.506 billion (up 18.95% compared to 2016) and 42 foreign projects with the capital of USD 533.5 million, bringing the total number of investment projects in the province to 1,693 projects (1,291 domestic projects and 402 foreign projects) with total registered capital of VND 112.9 trillion and USD 3.9 billion. An additional 86 projects have been put into operation, bringing the number of active projects to 960, creating more regular jobs for over 15.8 thousand workers. 1,313 new businesses are established with a registered capital of VND13, 133 billion (up by 43.65% in number of enterprises, increase by 26.68% in registered capital compared to 2016). The province has 8,560 registered enterprises with a total registered capital of VND 78,484 billion.

In the overall achievement of the socio-economic development of the province, there is great contribution of Hung Yen overseas Vietnamese community with many practical activities towards the homeland. At present, there are over 3,000 families whose roots is Hung Yen province living, working and studying in Russia, Germany, USA, France, Czech Republic, Thailand, Canada, Japan, Ukraine and Vietnam. Italy, etc. Implementing the Political Bureau's Instruction No. 45-CT / TW dated May 19, 2015 on further accelerating the implementation of the Political Bureau's Resolution No. 36-NQ / TW about Vietnamese overseas affairs in the new situation, The Party Committee, the People's Council, the People's Committee and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province have led, directed and disseminated among the people about the open and integrated policies of foreign affairs of our Party and State. In 2017, the province has sent five delegations of provincial leaders (including two delegations headed by the provincial standing party's delegation) to promote investment, trade, foreign affairs and develop foreign affairs cooperation with Hung Yen community in countries such as Russia, Belarus, France, Czech Republic, Germany, Korea, Japan. 7 international agreements have been signed in service of the socio-economic development of the province. On the basis of exchanges and signed agreements, a number of cooperation activities have been developed and implemented effectively, such as education cooperation between the Department of Education and Training of Hung Yen province with the Department of Education and training of Incheon province, South Korea; cooperation with Land Housing Corporation (Korea) on the implementation of Ly Thuong Kiet Industrial Urban Project…

Overseas Hung Yen people always live in solidarity, mutual support, strictly comply with the host country law and carry out practical activities to their homeland. The average amount of remittances sent by Vietnamese overseas through the banking system is between US $ 250 million and US $ 270 million, making a great contribution to the economy growth of the province. Many overseas organizations and individuals also support and contribute to the countryside to build cultural works, develop rural traffic and implement social security policies such as donation for the poor, giving presents, building houses for poor households, giving scholarships to students.
