Preserving Pho Hien cultural heritages

Lying in the historical flow, with the cultural sediment layers carrying typical features of "Pho Hien", Hung Yen homeland is preserving a rich number of cultural heritages.This is a large volume of valuable and unique tangible and intangible culture with more than 1,800 relics, dozens of traditional craft villages, various cultural and culinary products, unique traditional festivals, and multiple kinds of traditional art forms such as Cheo singing, Ca tru, Trong quan singing with folk echoes captivating people's hearts. Promoting the value of cultural heritages has a special meaning in the socio-economic development strategy of the province, especially in the current period of innovation, integration and development. Effective exploitation of cultural heritage resources not only gains direct economic benefits and creates jobs, but also contributes to the image introduction and promotion of Vietnamese culture and people in general, Pho Hien people in particular and Hung Yen province today.

Implementing Resolution No.33-NQ/TW dated June 9, 2014 of the Party Central Committee (term 11) on building and developing Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of the sustainable development of the country (Resolution No. 33), the Standing Board of the Provincial Party Committee issued Action Program No. 34-CTr/TU on August 15, 2014 on the implementation of Resolution No. 33.


One of the important contents in the implementation of Resolution No. 33, which is paid attention to and implemented by all levels of Party committees and authorities in the province, is to focus on implementing the planning, making rating documents, renovating historical and cultural relics, doing research and collecting intangible cultural heritages and contributing to preservation of the traditional cultural values of the province among the diverse and rich Vietnamese culture. The province has completed the inventory of the system of historical and cultural relics with 1,802 relics of all kinds. In which, there are 3 special national relics, 172 national relics, 250 provincial relics and 5 national treasures; along with famous traditional craft villages and more than 400 traditional festivals carrying the typical culture of the Northern Delta.

From 2015 to now, the province has nearly 200 relics and relic clusters being invested in renovation with a total cost of over VND200 billion; of which VND102 billion is from socialization. Major monuments and memorials have been built, such as: Memorial house for Hoang Ngan Hung Yen female guerrilla and Martyr and Hero of the People's Armed Forces Vu Thi Kinh (My Hao town); Hoang Hoa Tham Temple(Tien Lu district); Trieu Viet Vuong Temple(Khoai Chau district); Memorial house of Lieutenant General Nguyen Binh (Yen My district); Temple of National Ancestor Lac Long Quan (Hung Yen city).

Along with preserving and promoting the values of relics, the province also promotes the restoration of tangible and intangible cultural values and cultural values in folk beliefs. There are more than 400 festivals in the whole province, many of which are restored in both size and characteristics, maintaining their own unique culture. Specially, Hung Yen is one of the few provinces still preserving Ca tru singing which is an art form recognized as the intangible cultural heritage in need of urgent protection of mankind and Hung Yen Trong quan singing which was honored as a type of national intangible cultural heritage.


Mr. Dao Manh Huan, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that exploitation programs of cultural heritage values are gradually gaining economic benefits such as the change in socio-economicmechanisms, national budget increase, provision of numerous services and job creation to laborers.


In the coming time, in order to enhance the value of cultural heritages and human identity of Hung Yen people into an important development engine of the province, the Party committees and authorities at all levels will continue to strengthen the state management of Hung Yen province by perfecting mechanisms and policies on cultural heritage conservation; to improve the quality of staff in charge of cultural heritage management; to step up the inspection and examination of the implementation of the Law on Cultural Heritage, and regulations related to the conservation and promotion of cultural heritage in the areas of planning, renovation of relics and festivals and protection of antiques; to focus on publicizing and promoting the cultural heritage values to attract domestic and international tourists; to clearly identify typical cultural values of the province that need protected; to create conditions to enhance cultural enjoyment for people; to implement a civilized lifestyle in weddings, funerals and festivals and contribute to sustainable development of the country.
