Hung Yen agricultural products affirm their brand on the Vietnamese Agricultural Product Map.
Recently, at the opening ceremony of the Vietnam Agricultural Products Week 2025, the "Vietnam Agricultural Products Map" was launched, an initiative developed by the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development. The Vietnam Agricultural Products Map is publicly available at https://bandonongsanviet.vn/. Among them, longan, dried longan, crispy dried lotus seeds, longan honey, pink banana, Tam rice, and Ban soy sauce are specialties of Hung Yen that are featured on the Vietnamese Agricultural Product Map. This is not only a source of pride for the people of Hung Yen but also affirms the value, prestige, and reach of local agricultural products in domestic and international markets, contributing to the sustainable development of the agricultural economy.

When mentioning Hung Yen, people immediately think of longan, a specialty once offered to the king. This is not just a fruit, but also a source of historical pride and the province's most famous agricultural brand. The province currently has approximately 5,800 hectares of longan orchards, of which 15-20% are planted with specialty varieties such as rock sugar longan and ancient flesh longan. This fruit is famous for its sweet and refreshing taste, thick flesh, and small seeds, and is grown mainly in renowned areas such as Hong Chau, Tan Hung, Duc Hop, Khoai Chau... Especially during the longan flowering season, local people skillfully harvest pure, fragrant longan flower honey.
From fresh longan fruit, the people of Hung Yen have developed the processing of dried longan and other processed products such as dried longan with lotus seeds, beauty-enhancing tea, etc. These products are not only elegant gifts but also reach international markets. Mr. Tran Minh Duc, Director of Vinagri Vietnam Co., Ltd., said: Hung Yen dried longan is processed from longan grown on fertile alluvial soil, possessing a rich sweetness and distinctive aroma. Our dried longan and crispy dried lotus products are produced according to VietGAP standards, ensuring food safety and preserving nutritional value, and have been steadily exported to Asian markets.
Besides being famous for its fruit trees, Hung Yen province is also one of the largest rice granaries in Northern Vietnam, with the renowned Tam Thom rice brand, often called Tam Xoan rice. This type of rice has long, slender, translucent white grains, a light aroma, and delicious, sticky rice. It has long been recognized for its superior quality and is favored by consumers not only domestically but also in demanding markets such as the European Union (EU) and China.

Among its flagship products, the TBR39 rice variety from ThaiBinh Seed Group is considered a source of pride for Hung Yen's agriculture. Grown on fertile alluvial fields, TBR39 rice possesses many outstanding advantages such as good pest and disease resistance, slender, long grains, stickiness, and a mild aroma. In 2022, this product excellently won first prize in the 3rd "Delicious Vietnamese Rice" competition, contributing to affirming the position of Vietnamese rice on the map of high-quality agricultural products. Mr. Tran Manh Bao, representative of ThaiBinh Seed Group, shared: “TBR39 rice has slender, long grains, and the cooked rice is soft, chewy, flavorful, and glossy. What's special is that the rice retains its chewiness and aroma until the next day without becoming hard. This rice variety combines traditional quality with modern breeding technology, aiming to serve the high-end market both domestically and internationally.”
Besides staple products like longan and rice, Hung Yen province also boasts other indispensable specialties that contribute to its diverse agricultural landscape. A prime example is the Khoai Chau pink banana, widely grown in communes such as Chau Ninh, Chi Minh, and Khoai Chau. Thanks to the unique alluvial soil of the Red River Delta, this banana variety thrives, producing large, beautifully ripened, golden-yellow, and fragrant fruits. With its protected collective trademark, the Khoai Chau pink banana is increasingly being exported to high-end markets such as South Korea, Japan, and China.
Despite being a processed product, Ban soy sauce remains a quintessential part of Hung Yen's culinary culture, a renowned dipping sauce immortalized in folk songs: "La cucumbers, Lang eggplants, Bang spring rolls, Ban soy sauce." The enduring appeal of Ban soy sauce stems not only from its rich, sweet, and distinctive flavor, but also from the perseverance and preservation of this traditional craft by generations of people in Ban village, My Hao ward.

Today, amidst the modern pace of life, the traditional soy sauce making craft in this area is still maintained and developed, becoming a source of pride for the people of Hung Yen. Mr. Nguyen Van Trieu, Director of Trieu Son Ban Soy Sauce Company Limited, said: “Ban soy sauce is not only a culinary product but also the culmination of culture, the soul of Hung Yen homeland. We always strive to preserve the traditional recipe while applying modern technology to ensure quality, food safety and hygiene, and enhance the value of the product.”
Hung Yen, a fertile alluvial land along the Red River, has long been the cradle of distinctive products, imbued with cultural essence and unique flavors. The simultaneous presence of six key products on the national agricultural map is not only an achievement in terms of branding but also affirms the strong transformation of the province's agriculture.
Mr. Nguyen Van Trang, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, emphasized: "In the coming time, the Department of Agriculture and Environment will continue to focus on tightening strict quality management according to advanced standards, supporting businesses to promote the application of technology for deep processing, enhancing brand value and expanding export markets."
Through strategic steps and a determination to improve quality, Hung Yen province is gradually asserting its position, not only as a land rich in tradition but also as a center for high-quality agricultural products, ready to reach the global market.
