In Hung Yen province, as one of the key localities in the Red River Delta region, implementing this plan has been and is a key task. Hung Yen province has given specific directions to develop urban areas in a modern, smart and sustainable direction. According to the approved planning plan in Hung Yen Provincial Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, the urban system in Hung Yen will not only develop in scale but also focus on sustainability, especially in the issue of combating climate change, managing resources and improving people's quality of life. The goal is to build green, clean and beautiful cities with a high proportion of green space in the urban area, ensuring enough public services such as health, education and culture. At the same time, the province will invest heavily in digital infrastructure towards smart cities, applying technology to optimize urban management and provide services to people.
Specifically, the province has planned new urban areas in Hung Yen city, Van Lam district, Van Giang district and My Hao town, these are areas with rapid urbanization. Projects on social housing, transportation infrastructure, as well as public works such as parks and cultural centers have been implemented synchronously. In particular, the construction of ecological urban areas and smart urban areas is a top priority in the province's sustainable development orientation.
At the same time, the province is implementing new urban areas according to international standards, associated with the development of industrial parks, high-tech parks and eco-tourism areas. The urban development program of Hung Yen province for the period 2021-2025 sets the goal that by 2025, the urbanization rate of the entire province will reach over 48% and by 2030 this rate will increase to about 60%.
During the urban development planning process, Van Lam district has proactively focused on planning and developing infrastructure, especially transportation projects and public spaces, creating a foundation for completing the standards. urban areas of class IV and class III. This is an important condition for both urban and rural areas to develop sustainably, improve people's quality of life, and ensure effective connection with neighboring provinces. On the one hand, the province's general goal is that by 2030, the province will have 18 urban areas, and by 2037 it will basically meet the criteria to become a centrally run city. On the other hand, rural development follows advanced and model new rural criteria, suitable to the characteristics of the province. Central areas of commune clusters with a high rate of non-agricultural labor will aim for urbanization, creating conditions to promote modern and sustainable rural economic development.
