Coming to Hung Yen, tourists can be immersed in over 499 festivals, integrate into unique practices and take part in folk games such as cock fighting, human chess, and "Cau kieu" competition. "Cau kieu" competitionis an indispensable game in many festivals namely cultural festival of Pho Hien area, Tong Tran temple festival, Xuoi village festival (Tien Lu district), Cam Quan (My Hao district), Dai Tu village festival, Long Thuong village festival (Van Lam district)....

"Cau kieu" competitionis a simple game, yet, very exciting one. The venue is the communal pond or a large pond near the festival taking place. About 4meters to 5 meters off the bank, three bamboo trees are tied together like a "gau song" (a long-handled basket) attached with a long rope hanging the bridge at one side and the other side is fixed on the bank. The bridge has a fulcrum but it is unsteady and hard to cross. At the top of the bamboo trees, people hang a red flag to mark the destination.

Walking on the slippery bamboo tree, every participant wants to make it through to get luck. Bare feet step on the shaking bridge make people stagger. Some take two or three steps and surrender but some carefully and gently step to avoid being shaken. However, the further they go, the more shaking the bridge is. Few can conquer the game, take the red flag at the destination and gain the prize. In order to stimulate the attraction and desire to win, some local festivals combine this game with "catching ducks in the pond"

This folk game is applauded because it not only livens up the festival atmosphere, eliminate the tiredness and worry over a hard working year but also orients people to the traditional value of the country. Accordingly, the young generation will partly understand the cultural essence of the predecessors, preserve, promote and build the culture deeply imbued with national identity.
