Sharp increase in fisheries output
The fish breeding farm of Mr. Luu Van Dung's family in Quang Hung commune (Phu Cu district) currently has 3.5 hectares to raise dozens of fish like: Hemibagrus, carp, copper perch, white pomfret. According to the Provincial Fisheries Development Project for the period 2020-2025, Mr. Dung will be supported 40% of the feed price and 60% of the seed price if he has new fish cages with a minimum volume of 20m3. If Mr. Dung conducts intensive aquaculture with an area of 0.5 hectares and the cage fish of over 50m3, he will be supported with 25-30% of the construction investment.
The fisheries development project of Hung Yen province in the period of 2020-2025 aims to: develop the province's fishery towards efficient and sustainable goods; step by step apply advanced science and technology into production to improve productivity, quality and product value; increase the production value per unit area, create jobs, raise incomes for laborers, protect the ecological environment, and promote provincial socio-economic development.
Over the past 1 year, in contrast to the less bright picture of the livestock industry, when facing multiple dangerous diseases, the aquaculture farming in the province has still developed well in terms of productivity, output and economic value. The production of seafood has increased sharply in recent months and offset the shortage of pork products due to disease outbreaks in our province.
According to the report of the Provincial People's Committee, in the first 6 months of 2020, the total meat output is estimated at over 63 thousand tons, down 11.3% over the same period of 2019, of which the pork output decreased by nearly 20%; fishery production output increased by 10.36%, reaching over 26 thousand tons. The province is currently maintaining stable areas of aquaculture farming of nearly 5.6 thousand hectares, most of which are semi-intensive areas.
Freshwater aquaculture has been shown to have both immediate and long-term benefits. Farmers can take advantage of available water, or dig ponds, create lagoons with low costs. Fisheries are less prone to diseases than cattle and poultry, and the harvest time is relatively short. In particular, fishery products have become increasingly popular in the market. The price of commercial seafood products has increased and become stable; the consumption market is both inside and outside the province. On the other hand, there are 8 animal feed mills in the province, able to meet the demand for fisheries in the province.
Aquaculture in Hoa Phong commune (My Hao town)
100 hectares are converted to aquaculture annually
According to the Provincial Fisheries Development Project for the period 2020-2025, the fisheries development orientation for this period focuses on aquaculture in ponds, lakes, and small lagoons; cage fish farming and specialty aquaculture. It is expected that each year about 100 hectares of low-efficiency implanted fields will be transferred to aquaculture, of which concentrated in Khoai Chau district; Kim Dong district; An Thi district; Phu Cu district; Tien Lu district. By 2025, the area of aquaculture in Hung Yen is expected to be 6,100 hectares; the output reaches 65,000 tons of aquatic products.
Besides, it is strictly prohibited destructive fishing; at the same time, it is needed to add fish to the natural water source to regenerate aquatic resources.
To develop aquaculture services, the scheme encourages the establishment of cooperatives specializing in production and trading of aquatic breeds to meet the needs of breeds in the province, with 50% of traditional aquatic breeds and 50% of aquatic breeds with high productivity and economic value. Each commune has at least 1-2 rearing establishments and services of aquatic breeds.
Under the scheme, priority projects include: Adding fingerlings to regenerate aquatic resources; investing in infrastructure construction of concentrated aquaculture areas; building a frozen aquatic product processing facility with a capacity of 3-5 thousand tons per year.
Total expenditure for implementation of a number of contents in the Provincial Fisheries Development Project in the 2020-2025 period is VND 113 billion, of which the state budget supports VND 35 billion; other sources are VND 78 billion ...
