This place is not only famous for the crowded stores, famous specialties and agricultural products, and mossy market roofs under the canopy of old trees, but also pleases food lovers with fish porridge that has been preserved for many generations.

Fish porridge in Go market is also known as porridge cake. Characteristics of a river country and dexterous hands of hardworking people have created a delicious breakfast dish which is unforgettable once ever eaten.

She is now 70 years old, is the third generation cooking fish porridge in Go market. At the market fair, she and her husband got up at 1 am to prepare delicious porridge for customers. The rice is soaked and crushed, the anabas is caught in rivers and streams; after being carefully processed, boiled, they are picked up each bone. And yet, rice flour is also finely grinded, made into the rice ball. When stirring porridge, one person continuously stirs, the other cuts the rice balls into the pot.

That is why fish porridge in Go market is called porridge cake. When the porridge is smooth, it’s seasoned to taste, sprinkled on top and the porridge pot is quickly placed in the bamboo basket, covered with a blanket and brought to the market before the chicken crows.

A delicious bowl of fish porridge costs only VND 5,000, anyone who eats well can call for one more bowl. Next to the porridge pot, there is also a basket of rice cakes with meat fillings which costs only VND 3,000 each, so that people can eat with porridge. Therefore, the breakfast in the country pleases customers even more but it will run out if people go to market late.

After I was warmed up by the delicious breakfast, the sweetness was still lingering, I gently bowed to leave the store to make room for other guests, listening to the hum of a grandfather and the laughter of people: "Go market opens six sessions a month / Who has not eaten fish porridge is not satisfied to leave"
